Alligt offers strong and sturdy wheels, especially developed to take the high loads and rough handling associated with professional cargo bikes.
What makes our wheels so special?
The design
We did not set out to simply design nice looking wheels. We modified the shape of the spokes, over and over again. Until our FEM calculations showed that the optimum strength to weight ratio was achieved.
We have tested a lot of materials. We found that the Swiss produced Polyamide with glass fibers from EMS-Grivory gives us the best results.
The tools
The molds for these wheels were manufactured in the Netherlands. Optimizing communication and quality control.
The production
The wheels are injection molded in the Netherlands. Even with the best material, production conditions can have a huge impact on the strength of the wheels. We have spent quite some time in test molding with this trusted company until we agreed on the best possible production conditions.
Post molding machining
We have a five-ax
is milling machine. With it we machine the fixation points very accurately. We can also make more than one version. And we can make special versions without major investments.
We test and we learn
We have built several test methods. Here we try to destroy sample wheels. Just to see how strong they actually are.
We keep in touch with our customers.
They use the wheels in the rough everyday practice. We learn from their feedback.
ETRTO
We use the ETRTO tire dimensions because this is a rational and unambiguous system. But strictly speaking our rims do not conform to the ERTRO standard. In our newer wheels we use automotive style flanges. Because these are better suited for three- and four-wheel cargo bikes.
Rim Diameter 406 mm corresponds to most, but not all 20" bicycle and 16" moped tires.
